Minchinhampton Parish

Minchinhampton Parish covers an area including Amberley, Hyde, Burleigh, Besbury and Box as well as the town of Minchinhampton. The northern boundary is the River Frome, just south of the A419, and the southern boundary is just above the Avening road (which links Avening and Nailsworth). To the east it reaches Aston Down, and to the west it includes Houndscroft but stops just short of the Bear Hotel.

Amberley
Amberley is a thriving village, about a mile to the west of Minchinhampton Town, set within Minchinhampton Common. It has a school, two pubs and a community shop/cafe and magnificent views across the surrounding countryside. It has a ‘Cow Hunt’ family fun activity every year.

Box
Box is a beautiful village south west of Minchinhampton Town. The Village Hall is the centre of activities and Box Wood is a lovely place to stroll. Box Open Gardens is a must-see event.

Stroud
Stroud has much to offer – a wide selection of independent shops, many cafes, some banks and building societies. Some of the old mill sites have been re-used for small businesses, industrial units etc, examples are The Long Table, Pegasus Arts and the Fitness Mill. Stroud town centre hosts the award-winning Farmers’ Market every Saturday morning and many other regular markets.

Tetbury
Tetbury has a wide range of independent shops and cafes. The long stay car park is free (near the Goods Shed) and is next to a delightful walk along the old railway line.

Nailsworth
Nailsworth is a bustling small town with some great food shops and lots of cafes and restaurants. Parking tends to be be free, but for limited time.

Woodchester Mansion and Park
Woodchester Mansion is an unfinished Victorian mansion set in glorious parkland. The parkland is free to walk around (parking may incur a small charge). The Mansion is run by a separate Trust, and normally open to visitors Fri – Sun from April to October.
